Deep crimson. A complex yet not overtly exuberant nose of blackberry, blueberry and with hints of iron, damson and liquorice powder; sweet oak hints and a suggestion of coffee bean and bell pepper. Elegant, fluid palate of blackberry and raspberry fruit – more savoury than sweet. Velvety tannins and supple acidity create the perfect balance. Silky smoothness, yet fresh. Not a brawny wine and now at its peak, even if it hardly shows any signs of development. Certified organic by ICEA. 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from the Bellovedere vineyard trained on pergola at 200 m elevation with south-south-east exposure in Spoltore. The vines are on average 46 years old. Fermented in tronconic Slavonian oak casks. Malolactic conversion and aged for 18 months in barriques, tonneaux and concrete. Unfiltered and unfined.

The fruit of this wine comes from the Dolomites, part of the ancient Alps in northern Italy. They're so ancient that these mountains were once under the sea. This means that to this day, fossils are often found in vineyards as farmers tend to the vines. This, along with the high elevation and sun, results in vibrant, crisp wines, especially white wines like this. This wine is a great way to enjoy this region.Building upon natural acidity with crisp, vibrant flavors, this is a great showcasing of mountain fruit and an ideal way to explore the Veneto region. It is easy and uncomplicated while being extremely balanced with bracing acidity and good medium fruit to complement a sunny day with good friends.
Made with fruit from old vines, the Tenuta Tascante 2017 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. is powerful and delicate at the same time, and it strikes a careful balance between these two opposing forces. This is one of the biggest compliments you can give to a wine from Etna, one of the most dramatic and violent winemaking panoramas on Earth. This lovely Nerello Mascalese shows aromas of cherry and wild rose with toasted nut, scorched earth and lavender essence. The concentration and staying power from those old vines add considerably to the depth, tannic power and complexity of this age-worthy bottle.
The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia captures all the magic of the old vines in this Castiglione Falletto cru. Black cherry, plum, licorice, incense, melted road tar and spice all meld together in a Barbera of uncommon complexity, power and elegance. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is nothing short of compelling.
Made with organically farmed grapes, this offers enticing aromas of camphor, blue flower, new leather and dark spice. The smooth, delicious palate delivers ripe Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, star anise and tobacco framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2027.
Fermented in 60% barrique and 40% large casks, this has understated aromas recalling yellow stone fruit, camphor, field flower and citrus. The elegant palate has layers of subtle depth, featuring dried apricot, lemon drop, tangerine and toasted almond before a tangy mineral close suggesting wet stone. This screams out for food and can accompany the entire meal. Dalla Terra Winery Direct.
